Nothing really prepares you for the sight of this natural wonder. The canyon’s immensity, the utter intensity of light and shadow at sunrise or sunset feel you with awe. The three rims of the Grand Canyon – South, North and West – offer quite different experiences and, as they lay hundreds of miles apart, are rarely visited on the same trip. The South Rim offers easy-access viewpoints, historic buildings, Native American ruins and excellent infrastructure. North Rim is the most remote of the three, with cooler temperatures, more difficult access, and less-dramatic view points. The West Rim is run by the Hualapai and is famous for its Skywalk.
